Cycling in Darlington Borough, North East England, has become a much safer place to live and work as a result of the local Council’s innovative Shining Example Campaign. The Campaign aims to highlight the importance of using a cycling light on their bike at night.
Bikes parked up around the Borough and with no light each get a Hi-vis arm band attached to them. The Campaign developed for the Council includes flyers being handed out, posters and digital advertising campaign.
Cyclists are also encouraged to visit dothelocalmotion.co.uk and sign-up for a chance to win cycling gear.
Tom Lamb, the Campaign’s manager at Blumilk says: “The Campaign launched on 20 November and will run for 3 weeks. Results are really encouraging. There have been 733 views to the website in the first five days and 140 people have entered the competition. We’re excite to see what the final figures will be.”
