One of England’s outstanding NHS Foundation Trusts has introduced big improvements to its winter Emergency Alert arrangements. Improving staff communication and most significantly’ customer communication in the process.
Northumbria Healthcare serves half a million people over a huge geographical area in North East England. Services range from emergency and urgent care, to maternity services, from children’s services to end of life care plus district nursing and adult social care. The Trust employs over 7000 staff.
Central to the communication improvements is a new website commissioned by the Trust and designed and built by Blumilk.
Now just over two months old, the new Trust site has delivered a 20% year on year increase in the number of site visits, with average visit time increased by a third and page views increased by over 66%. The site serves over half a million visitors a year with over 1 million page views. Bounce rate is down by 16% and average load time down by 11%.
Blumilk was commissioned to research and prioritise the content that visitors genuinely valued, ensure content was clearer and delivered more consistently and the overall improved visitor experience enhanced. The site was designed using Atomic Design Methodology to ensure consistency. It was extensively user tested and its internal management improved significantly bringing a welcome smile to the faces of the site administrators.
