High Quality Parent Communications at Internationally Known Independent and Boarding School

Scarborough College is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3-18 years in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1898 and opened in 1901. The school has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School since June 2006, offering the IB Diploma Programme in place of A-levels.

The College has a very distinct and welcoming personality, something which is felt by both staff and parents on a day-to-day basis. Scarborough College puts an importance on their parent communications, moving past just using parent evenings for interaction. As part of this parent communication includes a comprehensive quarterly magazine called ‘Horizons’ which is sent out directly to parents.

Over the years, we have refreshed the Horizons magazine numerous times. It has now been purposely moved away from a newsletter to a coffee table design style. It reads more like a monthly magazine than a quarterly, with the uncoated stock and high quality imagery lending to its luxury feel. The fonts are a mix of both classic and contemporary, making the magazine look very current whilst still retaining the College’s elegance and charm.

More recently, the College was ready for a new look and feel to their existing website. It is effectively four sites in one; Sixth Form, Senior School, Junior School and Pre-School. The site has benefited from a brand new homepage design, banners, menu items, added responsiveness and the College took advantage of adding pictures from their recent photoshoot. We are thrilled with the results and you can view the new website here.
