Annual report marks another major landmark for new housing group
County Durham Housing Group has just launched its first-ever Annual Report. This marks another landmark in the Group’s journey to bring together Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, and East Durham Homes as one Group. Blumilk has worked hand-in-hand with the Group as Branding, Creative Design, and Digital Solutions business partner, from its inception in Spring 2015.
The 28-page Annual Report has been developed by working closely with tenant representatives It tells the Group’s story so far and shows how it meets the standards set by its regulator, the Homes, and Communities Agency.
“We wanted to help create an annual report people would read. As well a traditional printed design, producing a website was a fresh approach and one that we had a lot of fun creating,” commented Blumilk Account Manager, Katie Stewart.
Inclusion is key to the way the Group delivers its services. The Blumilk team attended tenant workshops to gain insights and feedback on the variety of concepts presented to them. The Group’s communication team with the Blumilk creative team thought that developing characters would bring a smile to peoples’ faces and engage them with the contents of the Report. Illustrated characters evolved from pictures taken of the tenants involved in the development of the Report. These characters, including a contented looking Bill Fullen, the Group’s Chief Executive, appear throughout the Report and feature on the microsite here.
Bill Fullen said: “Since coming together this is our first opportunity to reflect on what has been an extremely exciting and challenging time for a new organisation.
“With unprecedented changes in the housing sector and the cross-cutting implications of the government’s current welfare reform plans, the last 12 months have been unprecedented.
“However rather than cower in the face of adversity, we have adapted well, seized opportunities, and modified our practices to enable us to deliver the housing services that our customers have told us they want to see.
“Our first annual report recounts this journey, and also maps out our future plans to grow and flourish together as a group.”
