Learning Disability, Challenging Behaviour. Whose Challenge Is It?
Blumilk has worked with NHS North East to create a learning disability event with a difference.
Based at the Northern Design Centre on 10th July, the event was catered towards the prevention of behavioural and emotional difficulties in people with intellectual disabilities. The event brought together more than 70 delegates, including the families of those with learning disabilities and representatives from local charities, to work together to improve quality of care.
Blumilk worked on the event from start to finish, including; design of the event, creating materials such as banner stands, post cards and also a tree built in the venue. Blumilk also provided on the day event management.
Judith Thompson, North East Programme Manager (Learning Disabilities) said, “It has been great to work with Blumilk on the event. They have worked closely with us and helped us every step of the way, providing event support and assistance as well as design and production of all the event materials.
We have had great feedback from the day and initial comments are that it has made a real difference to peoples thinking.”
Earlier this year, the North East NHS also launched the ‘Do You Understand?’ campaign, to encourage healthcare staff to improve care for patients with learning disabilities.
Sally Hart, Account Manager at Blumilk said, “I’ve really enjoyed working with NHS North East on this interesting project. It’s been great to be involved with the entire project, from the development of designs to event managing the event, I’ve loved being part of the full process and seeing how successful the event has been. We are now working on follow up documents to be sent to attendees, which really emphasises how effective the events been, that it’s not been forgotten after the day”.
The event was a great success.
